LOVE by Jonathon & Bella Boozer

Saturday, February 16, 2013

So I must confess I am totally stealing this idea from one of favorite blogs, Lena B, Actually. I love reading Lena's blog and when I saw her interview with her children (found here)  I just knew I had to steal it:) After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... Right???? :)

So, I sat down with the kiddos and asked them their opinions about love and Valentine's day!!!
Please keep in mind Jonathon will be 6 years old next Friday and Bella is 4 years old.

Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day?
Bella: "For Jesus and everyone we love"
Jonathon: "It's Jesus' birthday"
Me: "That's Christmas buddy"
Jonathon: "Everyday is Jesus' day"

What does "true love" mean?
Bella: "it means that we love you"
Jonathon: "it means we love each other and get married"

What does it mean to be "in love"?
Bella: "you kiss"
Jonathon: "you get married"

When do people get married?
Bella: "July 5th"  - at first I was shocked she was so specific but then I realized that is the date of a relatives wedding that we are attending this summer... proof that your children are ALWAYS listening.
Jonathon: "Are you going to ask any boy questions?" "I don't want to talk about this stuff"

How old do you have to be to get married?
Bella: "20"
Jonathon: "18"

What do you love the most?
Bella: "Mommy"
Jonathon: "Skylanders"

Who is your favorite couple?
Bella: "Mommy and Daddy"
Jonathon: "Grandma and Papa"

What is your favorite love song?
Bella: "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
Jonathon: (breaks out into song) "Baby my love for you... is like the price of tires... it is high... on this here  tractor" :) LOL this kid cracks me up:)

go to 7:55 on the video and you will completely understand!!!! LOL

What do people do when they go out on a date?
Bella: "When me and Daddy go on dates we go to Build A Bear and for steak and salad, because that's what I said I wanted to do"
Jonathon: "dinner... and I don't like going to dinner because it is soooo borrringggg"
Me: "Well what would you want to do on a date?"
Jonathon: "Play video games or hockey" " or play with toys... but not girl toys"

How do people act when they are in love?
Bella: "they go out to dinner and hug a lot"
Jonathon: "they are nice to each other"

Why did Mommy and Daddy get married?
Bella: "you married David because he liked you" (she laughed when she said David, she was so proud of herself for knowing/using his real name)
Jonathon: "you married Daddy because you thought you were in love with him" LOL (thought)

Are you going to get married some day?
Bella: "No because I don't want to"
Jonathon: "Yes I'm going to marry Mommy"

What do you want your boyfriend or girlfriend to be like? (confused faces)
Me: "like smart, funny, nice, pretty"
Jonathon: "I want her to like video games"
Bella: "I don't want a boyfriend. I just like Jonny and Daddy and Daddy says I can't like boys"

So there you have it!!! My kiddos and their take on LOVE!!!! Aren't they just the cutest??

Cups of LOVE

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Valentine's Day is sneaking up on us pretty quickly and after scouring pinterest for weeks looking for the perfect Valentine's for my little stud to hand out in class... I finally gave up! There were some super awesome ideas, but I just couldn't get myself to commit to any of them. I was really on the hunt for something NON-CANDY, but also not too popular that some of the other moms might have decided to  copy create it as well. Here were a few of my favorites:

So here is what I finally came up with:) I have to say I totally LOVE THEM!!!!

I purchased a case of tumblers from the Dollar Tree in assorted colors and used my Silhouette to vinyl them with his classmate's names. But of course nothing makes a cute Valentine quite like a photo of my special little man! I knew right away I would use the chalkboard because... how do I put this....
 I'm a little obsessed:)

We use it for EVERYTHING!!! but anyway.... for those of you that don't know one of my FAVORITE movies of all times is Hope Floats!!!! (with Sandra Bullock) I have so many favorite lines from that movie but I have to say one of my absolute favorites is when Bernice tells her Grandma she loves her and the grandma's response is "... My cup runneth over." tear***sigh**** I love LOVE:)

Okay I'll stop rambling now.... Any who!!! I ordered prints of the picture on Walmart's website in 4x6 and put them inside of the cups. They were a tiny bit too tall so I had to trim them with my "fancy" scrap booking scissors (also from the Dollar Tree) and then they went right in. Don't they make the whole thing wayyy cuter?  It's so easy to make cute Valentine's when you have such a cute kid:)

I am so excited for Jonathon to take his "Cups of Love" into school next week!!!!
and he can't wait to give them to all of his friends. What do you think?

Oh and just for giggles...check out this sweet pic:)
"No more pictures Mommy... I want to go play HOCKEY" ... that's my boy:)

I can't wait to fill these little cuties with some fun Valentine treats for my kiddos:)

I LOVE Valentine's Day and can't wait to share a few more Valentine projects with all you, including what we made for Jonny to hand out in class... Soon, I promise! Stay tuned!

XoXo- Free Valentine's Printable

Friday, January 18, 2013

A while back when my hubby and I were dating... like a LONG time ago... high school days:)  I was really stumped on what to get him for Valentine's Day.  I've mentioned before that he is not the most mushy guy around. He is your typical "man's man" and doesn't exactly wear his heart on his sleeve, but I wanted to give him something cheap affordable that he would actually like. He has quite the sweet tooth, so I thought some candy would be fun, but I wanted to jazz it up a bit so I wrote this corny  cute poem to attach and I thought I would share it with all of you. I even created a free printable to make it even easier for you!

There are so many cute packaging ideas for these tags.

Get it??? The poem says HUGS and KISSES and the bag and the jar are filled with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses! ( my kisses are purple aka dark chocolate... my favorite... YUMMM)
So this is my idea of a super cute, super affordable, last minute Valentine's day gift for that special someone:)
Hope you guys enjoy!!!!

Love Jar

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Well the holidays are finally over and things are just starting to settle down so I thought I would share the cute little gift I made my hubby for Christmas this year! I was super excited this year to be making so many handmade gifts, but before I knew it time had really gotten away from me. It was only a few days before Christmas and I still had not even decided what I was going to be giving the old man as a gift...not good!
Just a quick run down of my hubby- he is your typical mans man! works all day and comes home and watches sports all night:) he plays roller hockey in a league a few nights a week and poker with his buddies weekly... I don't think he has a feminine side and if he does he is most definitely NOT in touch with it!!! :) LOL but this year I decided to take a chance.
I was checking out a holiday gift party at Tatertots and Jello when I ran across a post from For The Luv of Boys where I saw these super cute conversation jars... I thought they were adorable and instantly thought they would be fun and easy to make... so I decided to  make my hubby a jar full of reasons why I love him!!!

I used her excel sheet and deleted all the conversation questions so I would already have the lines laid out! Then I began "the list"... all the reasons why I love him! Let me tell you, we have been together for 9 years, since I was only 16 years old, and married for 5 years now...but boy was it hard. I started off thinking I was going to come up with 365 reasons. (so he could take out one to read everyday for an entire year) but quickly decided that that was not going to be an easy task. Not that I don't love him ALOT, but after the first hundred it was hard not to sound repetitive or seem to generic. I also included in the jar some special moments that really stand out to me from our past.
Once I had my list all finished I printed it out onto scrapbook paper (make sure it is white on one side)  and cut the strips apart. I then took each strip of paper and wrapped it around a pencil to make it curly.(feel free to do more then one at a time, up to three is easy and hold a nice shape)  It really gave them such a cute look! I found a cheap little penny jar at Walmart for $2.99 and stuffed the strips inside. I also found some cute scrapbooking stickers and decorated the outside of the jar which was so much fun!!!!

I gave the "Love Jar" to my hubby on Christmas morning and while he didn't jump for joy or break down into tears... (which I didn't expect at all, but did kind of hope for) LOL ... I definitely think he LOVED the jar and truly appreciated all of the time and energy I put into it!

While I was working on it, I kept thinking how great it would be to make an "inspirational jar" full of inspirational or motivational quotes, or maybe a jar full of bible scriptures. I also thought it would be a great idea to write down something I am thankful for everyday and add them to the jar over the next year, then after an entire year I could open the jar and look back and all the amazing things I was thankful for.
It was definitely a fun and inexpensive project to make... but was FULL OF LOVE! This would make a great gift for Valentine's Day, which is quickly approaching!
