LOVE by Jonathon & Bella Boozer

Saturday, February 16, 2013

So I must confess I am totally stealing this idea from one of favorite blogs, Lena B, Actually. I love reading Lena's blog and when I saw her interview with her children (found here)  I just knew I had to steal it:) After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... Right???? :)

So, I sat down with the kiddos and asked them their opinions about love and Valentine's day!!!
Please keep in mind Jonathon will be 6 years old next Friday and Bella is 4 years old.

Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day?
Bella: "For Jesus and everyone we love"
Jonathon: "It's Jesus' birthday"
Me: "That's Christmas buddy"
Jonathon: "Everyday is Jesus' day"

What does "true love" mean?
Bella: "it means that we love you"
Jonathon: "it means we love each other and get married"

What does it mean to be "in love"?
Bella: "you kiss"
Jonathon: "you get married"

When do people get married?
Bella: "July 5th"  - at first I was shocked she was so specific but then I realized that is the date of a relatives wedding that we are attending this summer... proof that your children are ALWAYS listening.
Jonathon: "Are you going to ask any boy questions?" "I don't want to talk about this stuff"

How old do you have to be to get married?
Bella: "20"
Jonathon: "18"

What do you love the most?
Bella: "Mommy"
Jonathon: "Skylanders"

Who is your favorite couple?
Bella: "Mommy and Daddy"
Jonathon: "Grandma and Papa"

What is your favorite love song?
Bella: "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
Jonathon: (breaks out into song) "Baby my love for you... is like the price of tires... it is high... on this here  tractor" :) LOL this kid cracks me up:)

go to 7:55 on the video and you will completely understand!!!! LOL

What do people do when they go out on a date?
Bella: "When me and Daddy go on dates we go to Build A Bear and for steak and salad, because that's what I said I wanted to do"
Jonathon: "dinner... and I don't like going to dinner because it is soooo borrringggg"
Me: "Well what would you want to do on a date?"
Jonathon: "Play video games or hockey" " or play with toys... but not girl toys"

How do people act when they are in love?
Bella: "they go out to dinner and hug a lot"
Jonathon: "they are nice to each other"

Why did Mommy and Daddy get married?
Bella: "you married David because he liked you" (she laughed when she said David, she was so proud of herself for knowing/using his real name)
Jonathon: "you married Daddy because you thought you were in love with him" LOL (thought)

Are you going to get married some day?
Bella: "No because I don't want to"
Jonathon: "Yes I'm going to marry Mommy"

What do you want your boyfriend or girlfriend to be like? (confused faces)
Me: "like smart, funny, nice, pretty"
Jonathon: "I want her to like video games"
Bella: "I don't want a boyfriend. I just like Jonny and Daddy and Daddy says I can't like boys"

So there you have it!!! My kiddos and their take on LOVE!!!! Aren't they just the cutest??

Happy Halloween!!!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I'm baaackkkk! I know I've been MIA for a few months now since the passing of my dad. It has been a very rough couple of months, but I am happy to say I am officially ready to jump back on my bloggy bus and get this show on the road!

Ugh! Have I mentioned how much I hate hurricanes? Well good old Hurricane Sandy decided to grace the northeast with her presence a few weeks back. Knowing that she was coming my Mom and I decided to throw the kids a little "spur of the moment" Halloween party since we were pretty certain that trick or treat night was going to get washed out. Yes I know Halloween has come and gone, (better late then never, right?)  but  I thought I would share with you guys a little of what we did.
Happy Halloween!

Disclaimer: This post is in no way sponsored by the Dollar Tree... but totally should be:) I love that place!

Decorations.... banners, glass decals, streamers, spider web, cupcake stand, candy bowls, tablecloth, blow up ghost, pumpkin cut out, skeleton straws - all purchased from the Dollar Tree

Whats a party without games, right?  My sons favorite by far was knocking down the ghosts with the beanbags. This was such a simple game to make. I took toilet paper rolls (which we already had) and wrapped them in white tissue paper (found at the Dollar Tree, lol) and simply used a black marker and drew eyes and a mouth on them. The kids loved it!

Bella's favorite was the pinata, because that girl LOVES candy! I remember when I used to make pinatas for the kiddos birthday parties and I would paper mache balloons. It was so time consuming and messy and they always broke fairly quickly so not everyone got a chance to hit it. Never again, discovering paper bag pinatas was a life changing moment. :) If you not sure what a paper bag pinata is it is quite simple. It is a paper bag (in this case I used 2) which is filled with candy, then the top is folded a hanger and taped shut... decorate as desired!!!! So simple right? In this case I doubled the thickness by using 2 bags and decorated it with a roll of black streamers from the Dollar Tree and a few glittery pumpkin cutouts, also found at the Dollar Tree.

We also played "Pin the Wart on the Witch". I found the idea for the game HERE. I printed out the template and made the witch the best that I could. I changed a lot of the colors because I simply didn't have the right colors and I left out a few pieces that I just didn't like. For warts we used green pom pom (from the Dollar Tree) and plain old scotch tape. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

For our final activity we had a scavenger hunt and all of the kids loved it. We let the older girls go first and then re-hid the clues for the little guys. I got most of the clues off this website found HERE. I picked the clues that I liked and hand wrote them onto fun Halloween scrapbooking paper since my printer was on the fritz and it was way quicker to just write them down. The prize at the end of the scavenger hunt was the kiddos goodie bags filled with fun little trinkets from .... you guessed it, the Dollar Tree. I used some black ribbon and made little tags for each bag.

The kids had such a blast!!!! and for a last minute thing I would say it was quite a success!!!! We won't let know hurricane stop us from having a good time!!!!

MIA- Day Out With Thomas

Thursday, June 21, 2012

I don't know if you have noticed, but I've sort of been MIA for a little while! Ugh, life has been crrrazzzy! Between our Chicken BBQ, Vacation Bible School, Father's Day, a surprise visit from some family, and spending a very special day with Thomas the Tank engine, I feel like I have been running around like a crazy lady.

So yesterday my parents and I did find time to take the kiddos to the Strasburg Railroad and spend the day with Thomas. It was so much fun!!! The kids had a blast...even though it was like 100 degrees:( Here are some photos I just had to share....

waving bye bye to Papa

If you are ever in PA and have little Thomas fans, this is definitely the thing to do!
It's inexpensive and such a great time:) We LOVED it!

Kennedy's 1st Birthday- DIY Pull Toy and Owl Stuffty

Monday, June 11, 2012

Our good friends Joe and Sheri have a beautiful daughter Kennedy, who turned one today and we were lucky enough to join in the celebration over the weekend.
She is such a beautiful little girl and such a happy little lady to be around!

The party was amazing! Kennedy's outfit was beautiful, the cake was amazing,
the decorations, her little birthday hat, everything... and my kiddos had the best time.
They keep asking when we are going to go back:)

I knew right away that I wanted to try to make something for the little princess. My main reason for wanting to DIY something is because I knew there was going to be a TON of people there... and let's be honest, there really aren't that many toys for toddlers to choose from and I didn't want to risk getting her the same thing as someone else...
plus you know me, I'm always looking for something to get into:)
So here is what I came up with...

This cute little stuffed owl pillow:)
No tutorial needed for this... you can find the pattern and instructions on pinterest here.
I have to admit though... it says in the directions that the owl takes about 15 minutes to sew... but if you are anything like me and aren't quite friends with your sewing machine yet, it will probably take you MUCH longer... like 3 hours:) and the ears might not be exactly the way you had planned...
just saying!

I looked on etsy for some toddler toys and found a lot of wooden pull toys,
but couldn't see spending $30 plus shipping on something that I knew I could make myself for so much less so I decided to ask my dad for a little DIY help and this is what we came up with!
I love it, and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.  I am working on a tutorial for the whale that I am hoping to share with you at the end of the week... so stay tuned:)

We had the best time at the party and we feel so blessed to be in this little ladies life:)
 Isn't she beautiful!
