Package Pals!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Yay!!! Package Pal time again:) These are my absolute favorite posts to write!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Package Pal exchange over at C.R.A.F.T. It is such an awesome opportunity to get to know a fellow crafter/blogger! and it just so happens to be how I met my own bloggy BFF, Chacoy...read all about that here and here. Please go check out all of Jamie's awesome creations and definitely be sure to join in during the next Package Pal exchange!!! I promise you won't be disappointed.

So this go around I was paired up with the super cute, Stefani over at Miss Jo and Co... be sure to show her some love!

She sent me this really great package, which included a mixed CD, a box of her favorite cookies, some hot and cold packs, some hair tie scarfs, and a little tote! I absolutely loved everything! Bella has been using the tote to carry around some of her Barbies and the cookies were DELICIOUS:) mmmmmmm Now I just have to try to find them where I live?

I apologize there are not more pictures of my amazing goodies
but my camera is being a stinker today and not cooperating;(

Stefani blogs EVERYDAY... boy is that dedication. That is something I have never been able to accomplish or really stick to and that fact that she was able to pull that off with a toddler showed me just how much her blog must mean to her. So I decided to paint her a little sign with the name of her blog on it.

I sent Stefani a pair of super cute mustache earrings too. My friend Chacoy sent me a pair a few months back and I LOVED them... (and so did my niece)  so I decided to order some extras for gifts:)

I also noticed that we both pinned these super cute blocks on pinterest. I had pinned them a while back because I just knew Bella would love them, so I assumed her little gal would LOVE them too:) I also included a little cinch bag to hold all of the blocks.

I also included this jumbo clothes pin, which I stained and mod podged and also some fun goodies from my new Saline Ambassadors kit (more on that tomorrow).

Last but not least I decided to send her some super SUPER super yummy sticky buns from my local Amish bakery. I LOVE living in Amish Country. I love driving by nothing but corn fields and horse and buggies. I was born and raised here and I can't imagine life anywhere else and boy oh boy do those Amish ladies know how to bake. These are from my favorite bakery and they were so fresh they couldn't even wrap them because they were still hot:) mmmmm... It was killing me not to eat just one before I sent them!

So there you have it... I am already looking forward to the next swap! Thanks so much to Stefani for all the amazing gifts and to Jamie for organizing the BEST craft swaps ever:) I <3 Package Pals!!!

June Package Pals- What I Got!!!

Monday, July 16, 2012

BE WARNED: This post contains excessive use of the words LOVE, AMAZING, ADORABLE, SUPER CUTE, and CUTE! I apologize in advance for my giddy teenage girl excitement. Apparently Package Pals has the same affect on me that Justin Bieber has on a thirteen year old:) You have been warned... READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The other day I shared with you guys the goodies that I sent to Chacoy for the C.R.A.F.T Package Pal exchange, so today I wanted to share with you all of the awesome goodies that she sent me!!! She did amazing! Everything I got was perfectly made and super cute!

Even the box was cute:)  Hello Kitty tape!!!
Ok, so onto the goodies.... for starters I got these super cute nail polishes. I seriously had to giggle when I opened these because I'm not going to lie I had been complaining for like a week that I wanted that light turquoise nail polish from Essie... I'm just too cheap and too stubborn to buy stuff like that for myself. Needless to say... my nails were painted within 10 minutes of opening the box:) I love it... and Bella is of course LOVING the purple:)

Chacoy is awesome... she made these SUPER CUTE hair clips as well... my mini me has been wearing the little Scottie's almost every day since we opened them. I can't express enough how PERFECTLY these are made. They are adorable. Chacoy is wayyyy more talented then she will admits. I am loving the mustache:) and the flowers go with everything.

Chacoy even included all the supplies to make more of the flower hair clips. I can't wait to get started making them. I am usually running around like a chicken with my head cut off in the morning, so my go to hair style these days is a VERY messy low bun and these little clips go perfectly with it. They are great for clipping up those random loose pieces that fall out and they make it look like I actually took the time to do something with my mop:)

Ok, so on to these oober cute cabochon hair pins. Oh my word... I LOVE them so much! Bobby pins are one of the few hair accessories I feel like I can actually pull of:) They are so simple and can go with any outfit and any hairstyle! Chacoy not only made me some, but again sent supplies for me to make some more of my own. Isn't she the best?

And there is more:) She also included some washi tape in my favorite color, yellow:)
 and some great little stamps.

We all know the quickest way to a Mama's heart is through her kiddos so it goes without saying that I was beyond excited when I saw these little chevron bags for my babies full of candy:)

sorry the pic is upside down- for some reason I can't get it to stay flipped

And here are my beautiful little babies (yes I know they are not babies anymore, but I refuse to accept that) hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house enjoying their treats. Sorry for the half nudey photo, they just got out of the pool. They are officially Chacoy's BIGGEST FAN!!!
Bella said to me that night before she went to bed...
"Mommy I love your friend from far away cuz her sends me candy. She is gonna be my friend too"
<3 that girl!

So as if all that wasn't enough I also got this AMAZING faux leather bag. Did I mention my LOVE for yellow:) I am IN LOVE with this bag. It's big, it's yellow, and it has a pink zipper... Does it get any better then that???

and of course my Rite Aid ad is laying on the counter... We all know about my Rite Aid obsession:)
During our chats Chacoy mentioned that she really likes making leather bags and bracelets, which is why I sent her a leather alphabet stamp, but when I opened up this little leather and lace bracelet I was in LOVE<3 It is so stinkin' adorable I can't stand it:) I have worn it almost every day since getting the package in the mail. Chacoy even sent along a ton of different colored ribbons that I can use to tie the bracelet, which is great because I can switch the ribbon to match any outfit!

When we were getting to know each other I mentioned to Chacoy that I love almost any craft EXCEPT for scrapbooking... I'm a horrible scrapbooker. I could spend an entire day on a page and still not be happy with it. Sometimes being a perfectionist is VERY annoying. She, however, found a way to make me rethink my anti-scrapbooking mentality:) She sent me a small "junk journal". I honestly LOVE it and have already added a few things to it:)

So finally, that is it.... definitely head over to Living In La La Land to read more about our swap and to check out the amazing before an after photos of my little junk journal.
Show my new bestie some LOVE while your there!!!!

You can also check out my post HERE with all the goodies I sent to Chacoy:)

June Package Pal- What I Sent!

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Remember the C.R.A.F.T. Package Pal exchange I did a few months back... It's a crafty package swap organized by the amazing Jamie from C.R.A.F.T. Long story short is the first 100 people that sign up get paired up by Jamie, you spend time getting to know each other via email and blog stalking:) and then at the end of the month you mail each other a package of goodies!

Well anyway, this time I got paired up with Chacoy over at Living in La La Land and let me tell you, she is one of the most amazing and inspiring women I have ever had the privileged of knowing. She is seriously AWESOME!!! She is a single mom of a tween son. Ahhhh as if that's not super woman enough...  She is also going to school.  She is super funny and kind beyond measure. She is a cancer fighter/survivor and such a happy and uplifting lady! I was beyond lucky to be her package pal buddy!!! and I am so grateful that I can now call her a friend!!!

After talking to Chacoy and getting to know her I realized that her son is the biggest part of her life! So I knew right away that I wanted to include him in the package as much as possible. The first thing I did was make him this super easy paper bag pinata because lets be honest... what boy doesn't LOVE smashing something with a stick until candy falls out:)

I knew when I was getting the package planned that I wanted to send both some things that I made as well as some supplies of things she could do herself. I decided to send two white shirts... one for Chacoy and one for her son, along with some dye. I haven't tie dyed shirts since I was in school but have been wanting to try it with my kiddos for awhile so I thought maybe it would be something fun they could do together.

I also sent two colored shirts, purple for Chacoy and blue for her son, along with a bleach pen. My kids and I have been having a blast with this. It is so much fun to decorate the shirts with the pen and then let them sit and dry and see how they change when you come back. My kiddos are young so not everything turns out perfect for us, but to me it is worth it just to have those moments with them and I knew Chacoy would feel the same way.

Through email I have learned that Chacoy really likes making leather bracelets and bags so I thought a leather stamp would be a great tool for her. I ordered her the 3/8" fancy alphabet set thinking maybe she could use it to personalize bracelets or anything else she chooses.

So if you know me at all you know I am a little bit of an organization/ list making freak so of course I had to send her some of my newest obsession... these chalkboard tags were tags that I purchased and then painted with homemade chalkboard paint. I also made her a chalkboard "A" with a cute little bow and ribbon.

Hmmm... what else. I also sent her a necklace and earrings that were both purchased from Groopdealz... because we all know I have a slight obsession with them!

Ok I'm losing my train of thought... I also included in her package some headbands that Bella and I made together. These have been my new obsession lately. Of course they are not perfect... but hey perfect is overrated, right? :)

I also included in her gift 2 reversible purses that I made... isn't my model totally workin' it!!

These were the first purses that I have EVER made... They were so simple, except for the whole sewing part:) The pattern is found here. On the blue striped bag I went with the original pattern but I skipped the top stitch on the bottom part of the bag. I only did it around the top and the straps. I like it that way a lot more.

On the second bag.. the grey and blue... I made the bag wider and the straps longer and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out... so much so that I made one for myself too:)

Last but not least I sent Chacoy this super cute little black and pink box. I thought it was adorable and new she could use the box for anything. Inside the box I included a message in an egg. The lid of the box had a post it that said "crack me" and inside the egg was a little note that said "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. -Dr. Seuss" This past month Chacoy and I have become such great friends and I thought this quote was fitting. I was sad that our Package Pal exchange was over, but I was definitely SMILING for the opportunity I was given to form our friendship. I look forward to being friends for a long time to come:) Thanks Jamie for such a fun swap!!!!

Remember to follow C.R.A.F.T. so you can sign up for the next Package Pal exchange!!!! She does it every other month and they are soooo much fun!:)

1950s Pin Up Bachelorette Party...Yes Please!

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

One of my hubby's very best friends is getting married in July and we are so excited. This past weekend I got to enjoy an awesome ladies night out for the bride's 1950's Pin Up themed bachelorette party! So much fun! I have to say I haven't been to many bachelorette parties in my day...and since I was only 20 when I got married, I didn't have one of my own...
but I'm pretty sure this one was about as fun as they get:)

Disclaimer: I apologize ahead of time for the crappy IPhone photos.
They are the best I could do.

Sekora- the bride to be

While most of the ladies that dressed up went with the Rockabilly style... my pale skin and chubby belly wanted nothing to do with RED or POLKA DOTS, so I went with my favorite of all the looks, the Military Style. I found this U.S. Army shirt at the second hand store for only $3.00.

It started out wayyyy to big and long sleeves which wasn't going to work for the this hot weather, so I took one of my own button up shirt and laid it on top (inside out) and traced it.
Then I sewed on the lines and flipped it right side out... SIMPLE as that!
I also cut off the sleeves and hemmed them up.
Not much to it:) - Which was perfect considering I didn't actually find the shirt or start on it until the night before the party:)

Here is the shirt once it was all sewed up (tightly) and ready to go:) Don't mind the kiddo... he always has to run in the pictures:) I also really quickly whipped up a little military hat from some scrap fabric to tie everything together. I paired it with some skinny jeans, red lipstick, and heels and I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. I was so comfy all night- Well except for the heels. :)

Sheri (sister-in-law to the groom)

Sekora and I

GeriAnn (sister of the groom) and I
GeriAnn and Sheri did an amazing job planning the bachelorette party.
Everyone had an amazing time!
